First of all… how amazing is it to be reunited with an old and dear friend after 20 years of not seeing or talking to each other.  But how CRAZY is it to photograph her engagement session, meet her hysterical fiancé and their new Frenchie, Riggins (yes for all you FNL fans that’s where its from…Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose!).  Not only that but I get to document her wedding next year!  OMG!

I’ve known Megan since we were in the 6th grade. Quick fun fact… I found out she grew up and has family in a city called Venice… just south of where I currently live here in Florida.  I was shocked by this piece of information.  Megan (Meg now… but sorry I can only call her by what I called her in the 6th grade..ha!) moved to the Valley in LA.  She was the new girl in the class and I befriended her. I remember that she used to cry and say that she missed the small town where she was from.  Yes that small town is south of Sarasota…see the connection? Her and I still talk about how I tried to make her feel better by using an analogy of a “Jolly Rancher vs. Blowpop.”  What was wrong with me? What I said…I can’t event tell you.  I have no clue if she felt better, but we became friends after that.  Remember how I shot Kiersten’s wedding and engagement?  Well Kiersten, Megan and I were in the same class.  Megan was dropped off at my house in the morning, then we would walk over to Kiersten’s house and then all walk together to school. Yup thats how I know these wonderful ladies and I love that even after all these years we can get together, catch up and talk like 20 years of separation never happened. I love how life comes full circle like that.

I’m so honored and so lucky that I got to shoot Juan and Megan’s engagement session.  They picked the Venice Canals because they use to live in Venice and well she grew ip in Venice, Florida (Hmmm you guys should go to Venice, Italy for your honeymoon!!!!) I’ve also never shot there so I approved. We walked the canals and I just sat back and watched these two goof off and be themselves.  It was awesome.  I was giddy the whole time and kept thinking how cool it was that I was taking pictures of my dear friend and the man that she is going to marry soon.

Megan & Juan – I love you both so much!  Riggins too (even though I’m a Jason Street fan).  Thank you for your love, friendship and trust.  I’m so honored and feel so lucky that I got to take your engagement pictures.  I feel even more blessed because I get to join you and document your wedding next year. Gah! See you in a few days!  Love you guys!

When Liz say’s that she wants to jump in the water….. How do you react? A.) Freak out, get nervous and make sure all your images are SHARP B.) Get excited jump up and down because… LIZ SAID SHE WANTS TO JUMP IN THE WATER and C.) Pinch yourself because you still can’t believe Liz…while wearing her Elizabeth and James dress just told you and Caleb that she wants to jump in the water.

Caleb & Liz’s Engagement Session at Emerson Point Preserve was so much fun and absolutely gorgeous.  It was hot…it was very humid and bugs were attacking us.  You’d never know it because when these two are together they are just perfect and in their own little world.  Caleb absolutely adores Liz…you can see it with the way he holds her and the way he looks at her.  Liz is so happy and comfortable around him. He puts her at ease and thats amazing in my books.

I’ve known Liz for a few years now.  If I lived closer to her or her store in town (Influence Style folks…. you have to visit their website and store) we’d be besties! She wouldn’t know how to get rid of me. I’d hang out with her everyday and get lost in her pool of gorgeous articles of clothing. I adore this lady so much as she is just such a hard worker and one of the most genuine and kind ladies that I know. I’m so grateful to know her!  As for Caleb… well this man made a Grand Entrance into my life… at an event… introduced himself to me and gave me big enthusiatic hug right off the bat.  Who does that? So warm, energetic and approachable! He is perfect for her….and she is perfect for him.

I’m so unbelievably honored to be the chosen one to document the upcoming nuptials of this highly photogenic, fun and loving couple this summer! Only a few more months away! Ahhhh!

Liz & Caleb – You guys jumped into the water!!!!  And you guys are getting married soon… I couldn’t be more happy for you both!  I’m so happy you found each other and the world is more beautiful because of it. I had a blast that evening…I’ll never forget it.  Love you both!

We have been planning their engagement session since late 2014.  I was so excited to finally meet them.  Then when we finally were scheduled to do the shoot….the very dry and drought-ridden city of Los Angeles was forecasted to get some rain.  And by some rain… I meant a downpour.  Something the city definitely needed but….we really didn’t need on the one and only day we could shoot.  We had our afternoon downtown all planned and mapped out exactly the way we wanted…but we had to transition to plan B right away. Plan B didn’t happen until 3 hours prior to the shoot.  Sounds dreadful right? Not exactly! Read on….

Everything turned out better than expected!!!  And I love that so much!  We ended up meeting in Pasadena instead.  Sam & Brenda’s Pasadena City Hall Engagement Session was everything and more than we all hoped for. The city hall was gorgeous, grand and elegant.  It was a perfect location to shoot during a downpour.  The hallways filtered in beautiful soft light.  There were whimsical staircases that I knew I could do so much with.  There were tiny windows that let in just enough light for me to work with.  And when night fell… the sconces and light fixtures lit up the building and hallways that brought out even more character to the building. I loved every bit of it! Our plan B worked and good job to Sam the groom-to-be for finding this location just in time!

I remember Brenda shared her pinterest board with me so I could see her vision.  She wanted an image shot in the rain and I knew I wouldn’t be able to give that to her unless it rained.  Since it did… we did a few of them…and her cousin Ingga who graciously joined us that day…got rained on…just to help Brenda and Sam get the shot they envisioned.

Brenda looked amazing that day… her ivory & black lace dress suited her perfectly!  And her shoes…..I kept staring at them all day…loved them!  They were both so comfortable together….they required little to no direction. Brenda was stunning and Sam was absolutely a gentleman and looked fabulously dapper in his suit.

Brenda & Sam – Oh I had so much fun with you both!  Thank you for braving the rain and being so flexible with all our roadblocks that day.  I’m so glad we pushed forward with the shoot and grateful for sam for finding a perfect location! You both are stunning and so perfect together.  I loved our time together.  See you both in May!  I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in San Juan Capirtrano.  I’m so excited!!!
